Sexual Abuse Counselling Online

If you are looking for Sexual Abuse Counselling Online or within the Kent Area, I can help.

Abuse can come in many forms, including emotional, physical and sexual abuse.

  • Physical abuse – This is one of the more easily identified forms of abuse. This involves violence or the threat of violence over another person and usually occurs in order to maintain power over them.  This can leave an individual feeling afraid and uncertain of when abuse may occur.
  • Emotional abuse – this is non-physical, but in a similar way to Physical abuse, the abuser’s intent is to control, isolate or frighten the person. While harder to identify, this type of abuse is just as serious and has the potential to be just as frightening for the individual.
  • Sexual abuse – This is where the abuser controls the sexual/intimate elements of the relationship. This is often non-consensual and forced.
  • Sexual coercion might also fall under this category – this is where a partner might coerce or guilt you into having sex with them using tactics to pressure or intimidate you into this eg-telling you what might happen if you don’t give in.
  • Stalking – this is when someone watches, follows or harasses you to the point of making you feel unsafe and afraid. This can be from someone you know or a stranger.
  • Financial abuse – The abuser takes control over your finances.
  • Digital abuse – Using technology to bully, harass, stalk or intimidate a person. This is another form of control, carried out online.

FAQ's about Sexual Abuse Counselling Online

There is no one size fits all approach, but perhaps some of the following feel relevant to you;

  • You often feel insulted by your partner.
  • Your partner wants to know where you are and what you are doing all the time.
  • Your partner appears jealous of friends and family.
  • Your partner threatens to hurt you or themselves if you were to leave.

Because perhaps it is.

  • Leaving may feel dangerous to you – perhaps the abuser has threatened to hurt you or themself if you leave.
  • You might be worried about your children – what does the future look like for them? Who will gain custody?  How will I support them alone.
  • Lack of resources – perhaps you don’t have a job or access to your own finances or bank account.
  • Societal stigma – you may not feel that divorce is an option, in some cultures leaving your partner is seen as disgraceful, you may have been told it’s “up to you to make it work”.
  • Isolation – This is often a key dynamic of the abuse as your abuser may have got to the point where you feel completely isolated from your family and friends and have nowhere to turn. I hope this isn’t the case for you, but if it is, you can contact me.  My services are completely confidential and I won’t ring or email you back if this will put you in danger with regard to your individual circumstances.

The Psychodynamic approach is designed to help individuals with a wide range of problems, from addictions to anxiety and abuse.  Perhaps you have lost meaning in your life and are struggling in your personal relationship.  In a therapy session with me, I encourage you to talk about whatever comes to mind and to speak freely with the understanding that anything you share with me is completely confidential.
