FAQ's about Trauma

I’m a qualified Psychodynamic therapist with several years experience, so there’s a good chance that I’ve dealt with the issue you are bringing or something similar before.  If you are feeling nervous, or uncomfortable about sharing something quite sensitive or personal, rest assured that our sessions are completely confidential.

I completed my professional training at the highly regarded Enfield Counselling & Psychotherapy Service.

Additionally, I’m a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) which means that I have met their criteria and am demonstrating high standards of proficiency, professionalism and ethical practice.

If you would like to speak to someone about your trauma, please feel free to get in touch using either the contact form on the “Contact” page or by calling my mobile.  If at first you don’t hear back from me, I will return your call.

I offer an initial 15min phone call during which time I can get to understand your issue and then after this I would carry out an assessment where I will gain a fuller picture of you as a whole during this time, you can also decide if I’m someone you think you’d like to work with.

If you choose me as your therapist, we would meet for 50mins at the same time every week.

It’s your session, so you choose what you would like to share and our sessions are completely confidential.

Psychodynamic Therapy is open-ended, meaning that the time is yours for as long as necessary.

Psychodynamic therapy focusses on the root cause – for example, what might have occurred in your past that may be connected to your current issues.  Rather than understanding and modifying behaviours, the focus in Psychodynamic therapy is the exploration of the full range of the client’s emotions.

If left untreated, trauma can lead to other mental health issues.  It can also play a part in relationship issues in adulthood, confusion over one’s identity.

Additionally, those with untreated trauma sometimes turn to substance abuse or self-harm.
